- By A.J. Ryder on September 30, 2013 13:38 GMTObviously, last year’s Classic winner Fort Larned deserves plenty of attention and he’s just seen his price clipped down to an 8/1 margin after putting in a good shift at Churchill Downs yesterday.

Mucho Macho Man won the feature contest at Santa Anita and finally became the Grade 1 winner that many had always assumed he would become. With his excellent performance and a huge ability to flash the right type of speed at the exactly right time, he may be coming into form at just the right time and the course and distance Grade 1 victory has certainly affected his odds - dropping to an 8/1 price.
Ron The Greek was arguably the day’s biggest shock with a 22/1 score in the Jockey Club Gold Cup at Belmont reminding everybody why this horse has been a contender for so long. Ron The Greek had gone off the boil a bit over the past few months but now looms large in the frame for the Breeders’ Cup Classic and looking a sharp selection at an 8/1 price tag.
Interestingly enough, several bookmakers still have Royal Delta in the mix for the Classic - something that potentially would have happened if she won the Beldame yesterday by a considerable distance. Instead, she is now likely to have another run in the Ladies’ Classic and seek to win it for an unprecedented third time.
The bookmakers that do have her listed are pricing her at 10/1, which makes little sense as she is very unlikely to run there.
Cross Traffic didn’t really make his presence felt in the Jockey Club Gold Cup yesterday and the lightly-raced colt had been trading as the second favourite in the ante post market for quite some time.
