2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup Ante Post Betting Tips Part 2

The shortest price you’ll find on Bobs worth is a 5/2 listing with most bookmakers pricing him in the neighbourhood of 3/1. William Hill has recently trimmed him to 11/4 in their gold cup ante post market.

Willy Mullins knows a thing or two about big wins at Cheltenham and he’s going to be bringing Sir Des Champs into the mix for this year’s de facto chasing championship. Though he hasn’t won yet in either of his efforts this year, he has put in some solid shifts - particularly in his last race at Leopardstown.

He was sent off at 9/4 for the Grade 1 Lexus Chase at the end of December and finished a tame fourth in a field of nine. Those watching the race will likely feel that he would he would have had a better chance of actually catching the leaders if he hadn’t blundered on the run-in. He only actually lost the race by a slim 3/4 of a length - pretty good when you figure that he ran fourth.

Despite his overall lack of good form and finishing ability this year, he does boast a tremendous ability to win big races at Cheltenham. Both of his efforts there have come during festival time and both have seen him visit the winners circle.

He scored in 2011 in the Martin Pipe Conditional Novices Hurdle while 2012 saw him capture the Jewson Novices’ Chase over the respected Champion Court. He went undefeated during his 2011/12 campaign and scored victories against top-tier jumpers.

Bookmakers have Sir Des Champs priced around 6/1 with a few bookmakers continuing to float him at a 13/2 margin.
