2013 Cheltenham Open Free Betting Tips Pt 1
- By A.J. Ryder on November 14, 2013 19:30 GMTWe are finally getting into the interesting part of the National Hunt season as the key festival preps begin kicking off this weekend. The Open Meeting at Cheltenham is set to unfold and there is a lot to like about this stellar six race card that will unfold in the Cotswolds. Many popular names reappear for seasonal debuts but there are also quite a few coming back for their second kick at the can after a September or October prep under their belt.

The first race of the day is a fascinating one as it’s a 3yo restricted hurdle trial that serves as a qualifier for the JCB Triumph Hurdle. This juvenile clash has a few very interesting runners and none more so than the bay colt. As a Grade 2 contest it’s going to attract some quality contenders but this one from the Nicky Henderson yard is undefeated over fences and recently captured a listed contest to really prove that he belongs on the circuit.
You don’t usually see a Galileo out of a Darshaan mare (who is still an entire colt) being campaigned over fences, particularly at 3, but that’s what we have here. It’s hard to look past him just because it jumps off the page so much.
Another name that jumps off the page is Abracadabra Sivola, who lines up for Nick Williams. He wasn’t really at his best when sent off at 9/4 at Newton Abbott to finish second by nine lengths to Harristown. He has a chance to move forward but will probably take more money than he deserves as the word “Sivola” is in his name and that attracts attention.
David Pipe saddles Azza, who looks to be the biggest pretender to Royal Irish Hussar. And that’s going to be an interesting campaign to watch as he won his English debut at Carlisle, but put together an even better performance at Auteil prior to that to capture the equivalent of a listed contest. He was bet down to 1/6 in the Carlisle effort.
