2013 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes Betting Preview Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on October 9, 2013 18:18 GMTHe romped home by three lengths but looked a bit green early on - he was able to settle nicely when they got down to the business end of the race and you do have to reckon that Charlie Appleby thinks he’s got a live one here. Mickael Barzalona has been in the irons each time and you don’t anticipate them switching from that here.

The betting favourite is expected to be the talented two-year-old War Command, who is by breakout American sire War Front - who once stood for $10,000 and is now likely to stand in the range of $80,000 next year. The multiple Group 2 winner is also Group 1 placed and he boasts some versatility that you will notice reading the form line in his first contest at Leopardstown.
While War Command has generally deployed a late-running trip in his past three races, the first contest saw him take a keener hold and race closer to the pace. Enduring a troubled trip in which he was hampered more than once, Joseph O’Brien was able to get him up by a neck over a quality field of Irish maidens.
Punters will find War Command priced around 13/8 in the ante post markets at the moment.
Another Godolphin runner, Be Ready, has only raced twice but is getting plenty of consideration for the Dewhurst Stakes. He came second in his first race - which was a listed contest at Newbury. He followed that up with a score at Doncaster in another listed race and was able to conquer a field of five by three lengths. While he hasn’t really been up against it at any point so far, you do reckon that this impeccably-bred colt (by New Approach out of a Gone West mare) could make a big enough step forward to justify the punters enthusiasm for him.
Look for a few more interesting swings in the odds as we get closer to the off of the Dubai Dewhurst Stakes.
