As the Dubai Racing Carnival continues to unfold each Thursday, the ante post markets are already starting to get unveiled by a few different bookmakers. The American contingent is coming into the race with lots of momentum and that seems to translate to some fairly short prices. In fact, the top two contenders for the 2013 Dubai World Cup are based stateside – America's champion distaffer Royal Delta along with versatile 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom.

Royal Delta earned her plaudits when she defended her Breeder's Cup Ladies Classic at Santa Anita this year in a scintillating performance. She disposed of one of the deeper fields of the race and she looks to team up again with high-quality pilot Mike Smith.
The bookmakers have Royal Delta trading in the neighbourhood of 6/1 or 9/2 depending on whom you're wagering with. Royal Delta had a go at the Dubai World Cup last year after being acquired for a hefty $10,000,000 at the Keeneland November sale. She didn't acquit herself too well in what turned out to be a very forgettable race for the American connections.
Animal Kingdom will have a prep race in America before departing for Dubai. This exciting runner came back from injury and a few not-so-hot performances to grab a very solid second place in the 2012 Breeders' Cup Turf at Santa Anita. Dubai has been the target for this one for quite some time and it appears as though the 7/1 price should hold up between now and the race itself.
Godolphin won the race last year with Monterosso and he reappears in the ante post market for this one and trades at 10/1 alongside his stablemate Capponi. They were 1-2 last year, but the bookmakers appear to favour the UK-based Farhh – another Godolphin charge – at an 8/1 price compared to the double digits on his fellows in royal blue.
