2013 Irish Derby Betting Tips Part 3
- By A.J. Ryder on June 26, 2013 14:39 GMTBattle of Marengo was a big disappointment for many at Royal Ascot last week when finishing second to Hillstar in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes. Sent out of the gates as a rare odds-on favourite in that contest, he couldn’t find the extra gear needed to get the victory. With a 10/11 price looking a tough beat for many on the day, he is now available at 10/1 to tangle with this type of Group 1 company just over a week after his Ascot performance.

It will be interesting to see whether Battle of Marengo can move forward off of that disappointment and his form in Ireland has been stellar with just a single loss to his credit.
Sugar Boy is another interesting selection who missed the Epsom Derby and he comes into this race on the back of a Group 3 score at Sandown when he conquered Eye Of The Storm by a head in the Bet365 Classic Trial. It was the first Group level win of his career and many will expect him to kick on nicely here and put together a good performance. His name has been in the news as he was recently purchased by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum - many are taking that as an extremely positive sign and that has seen his odds drop down significantly to 7/1 on the ante post markets at most major bookmakers.
John Oxx will be saddling Little White Cloud who is still yet to win this year despite a pair of Group level efforts. He still appears to be finding his feet but his pedigree provides plenty of clues that he may be set for greatness. by Dalakhani out of a Sadler’s Wells mare, there is a lot to like about this one and he may have been campaigned with an eye on this effort for quite some time. Look for him around 25/1 and looking a strong each-way selection as a best of the rest sort.
