Surely there will be some who go against this talented pair and the real contenders at this point in time look to be Lethal Force at 9/2, Society Rock at 5/1, Gale Force Ten at 7/1 and Reckless Abandon at 8/1.
Clive Cox’s trainee Lethal Force is also an Ascot winner, having captured the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at a solid price of 11/1, which surely endeared him the punters far and wide. He was able to stay on much more strongly than he did in his previous effort - when he was a beaten second by Society Rock by nothing more than a head. This time he was able to vanquish his foe by an appropriate two lengths and the victory was emphatic. His first score since last August at Newbury in a Group 2 encounter, he looks set to push forward and enjoy a competitive six furlongs.
Society Rock deserves respect and he will need to get things back on track here - keeping an eye on Shea Shea more than Lethal Force. He will also have to fend off another late charge by Sole Power and that’s always easier said than done. 5/1 is perhaps a bit short on Society Rock but he will be in with a shout all the same. It will be interesting to watch the money move for him in the last few minutes before the race begins.
Gale Force Ten took the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot and, prior to that, was able to muster up a second place finish at the Curragh in the Irish 2000 Guineas. He finished fourth in a Group 1 in France and looked good with Ryan Moore in the irons at Longchamp. Prior to that he took a listed stake at Dundalk on his seasonal debut back in April.
