There is a lot to like about the race and anybody with some genuine sense isn’t going to look too far past the Queen’s premier staying sensation Estimate as she holds on to a tight 2/1 ante post price in the build-up to the contest.
Two for two this year and unraced since his neck score over Simenon at Royal Ascot, this horse for course was the first win by a reigning monarch at Royal Ascot. Bred from a regal bloodline and donated to the Queen by the Aga Khan, this four-year-old filly by top German sire Monsun is looking to make it a perfect season and complete a hat-trick of victories with Ryan Moore in the irons.
What really separates Estimate from the pack is her ability to challenge rivals and then stay on strongly over the final furlongs of a contest when most contenders at this stage of the game are reeling from the exertion on the ground.
What really seems to be the interesting part is the fact that Estimate has won every single time she’s set foot on the Ascot ground.
When you combine that stellar 4/4 lifetime record at Ascot with the fact that there really aren’t too many who look likely to replicate her ability to flourish over 2m on soft ground, you get the idea that her 2/1 price tag could be a decent bet even if you aren’t looking to get too carried away on the earlier races.
