2013 Qipco Champions Day Betting Preview: Long Distance Cup Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on October 17, 2013 20:08 GMTOf the challengers available in this contest, there is Aidan O’Brien’s Eye of the Storm who looks set to get a five pound break in the weights because he’s a 3yo. He ships in off a victory at the Curragh a few weeks back and will be taking his third crack at a Group level contest. He’s not won any of the Group 3’s he’s contested thus far but was nearly there when losing to Sugar Boy by a head back in April at Sandown.

He’s come into form once Joseph O’Brien has been up and you can expect him to make a real statement here if he can conjure up a performance from this promising colt by Galileo.
Ahzeemah is the Godolphin entry here and this one boasts a very impressive-looking recent record having not finished out of the exacta since June of 2012 - and that was 11 races ago. He’s been campaigned fairly extensively this year, having raced four times in Dubai - ultimately coming second to stablemate Cavalryman in the Dubai Gold Cup.
It should be noted that he comes off one of his heaviest defeats in recent memory with a six lenth loss to Voleuse De Coeurs at the Curragh in the Group 1 Irish Saint Leger. He is definitely one to consider if you’re looking to get involved in any of your exotic wagers and he is likely to form a very interesting forecast wager with Estimate if you’re really looking to bet on a multi-horse wager.
Harris Tweed will also be a factor and he’s been in form in his last two contests, winning both, and not finishing off the board in any of his four outings this flat season. While he has only been competitive on the listed circuit, that really is the proving ground for contenders who are looking to compete in races like this.
