2013 Royal Ascot Wednesday Betting Preview Part 1
- By A.J. Ryder on June 17, 2013 15:18 GMTWednesday at Royal Ascot is seldom considered to be the best day of the festival but you can still expect some very interesting betting races to unfold over the six contests on the day. With just a solitary Group 1 contest up for grabs, there are some very tricky Group 2, 3 and listed contests along with some very big fields to make the potential payouts especially appealing.

The opening day’s contest is the Jersey Stakes, a Group 3 effort going 7f. Undefeated Ajraam, a son of Daaher out of a Danehill mare, has taken two races on the bounce and will be coming into this contest with plenty of credibility. There is some fairly up and down form in this race but there are also plenty of there-or-thereabouts types to consider as well if you’re going to be hunting for a price.
Qatar Racing has Pearl Flute in this one and he ships over from Longchamp after capturing a Group 3 contest with Umberto Rispoli in the irons. He gets Jamie Spencer for the first time and the son of Piccolo is definitely in with a shout here with more than a few credible claims.
Another son of Piccolo, Music Master, just lost out to Dundonnell last time out in a very credible performance when sent off at a 12/1 price. With Dundonnell commanding some respect for a Group 1 contest on Tuesday, you would say that he has a great reference as he moves into his next challenge.
Dane O’Neil gets the call instead of Fergus Sweeney and you can expect him to move forward with plenty punters looking likely to take a gamble here.
