2013 Supreme Novices Betting Tips Hurdle Part 1

My Tent Or Yours put together a smashing performance in the Betfair Hurdle and that’s seen his ante post price drop like a stone ahead of the 2013 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. This one gets us all underway for the festival and it’s always an extremely overbet race.

Every single year, a young jumper with two or three novice runs under his belt gets touted as the next Kauto Star and winds up getting bet down to 4/5 ante post only to finish fourth or fifth, tiring on his way up the hill.
My Tent Or Yours does really seem to be the real deal to many punters and his confident whip-free ride from AP McCoy saw him taken into 5/2 with most major bookmakers who previously had him at 8/1. It’s clear we haven’t seen the bottom of the son of Desert Prince just yet, but this race is usually ripe for a spoiler - not one directly out of left field - but usually a fairly well-priced contender who is still developing and had plenty of room to move forward between races.
For my money, that appears to be McManus’ other runner Jezki, who most bookmakers have floating around 4/1 or 5/1. His victory in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown sets him up nicely for this race and, after watching both, you’d reckon that was probably the tougher test. Sure, My Tent Or Yours took on a very large field in his last race but there was really only three or four contenders with an actual shot of winning that one - most didn’t factor on the run-in.
Jezki has been to Cheltenham before, he finished 8th in the bumper last year and he also needed his first race this season in order to find his feet. He was 5/15 at Navan but then conquered a field of 12 in a maiden hurdle at Naas - setting off a run of 4 scores in a row. Leopardstown was his biggest win to date and he romped home powerfully at the end.
His jumping, especially the ones later in the race, tend to be more fluent than you’d expect from a juvenile and you reckon that if he gets the right type of trip, he’ll be able to match My Tent Or Yours stride for stride.
