Obviously, McCoy is McCoy for a reason and he will have more than a few tricks up his sleeve as they head up the hill to that cacophony of punters. Though there are a few other interesting ones in the race, most will be anticipating a potential showdown between these two McManus-owned novices.

Un Atout is probably the most appealing from the rest of the top contenders and he’s undefeated over hurdles though he is still yet to tackle a graded contest. His last victory came in January at Naas when he won by a 19 length margin. Willy Mullins knows how to win big races at Cheltenham and it’s clear that this one still has a lot of room to move forward. Keep your eye on him as he’s likely to take some money on the day.
Punters have Un Atout trading around 8/1.
Melodic Rendezvous is another one with some good races under his belt this year, though continuing to lack the high-profile graded victories. He took a listed hurdle at Exeter against a limited field of five and came home 9 lengths ahead of the field. He was carrying 11-11 that day, the same as the favoured runner Puffin Billy and he came out a comfortable winner. The phrase “quite impressive” sits prominently at the back of his comment line for that race.
Is Melodic Rendezvous good enough to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle? Maybe. He looks to have a bright future ahead of him, but perhaps may need just a bit more time. He trades at 9/1.
25/1 Annie Power is the outside tip here and the five-year-old Willy Mullins mare trades at a solid price for this one. She’s undefeated in five contests, though it should be noted that one was a match race that she won by 61 lengths. She retains a co-entry for the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle but you never know - she may wind up having a bash at this one. She also retains an entry for a Grade 2 Novice Hurdle at Naas on February 24.
Prediction: Jezki pushing My Tent Or Yours all the way.
