2013 York Ebor Festival Day 3 Betting Tips Part 2
- By A.J. Ryder on August 23, 2013 00:21 GMTWinterlude is the 5/1 favourite at the time of this writing while Gospel Choir trades at a 6/1 price tag.
The second race of the day is the Group 2 Weatherbys Hamilton Insurance Lonsdale Cup, which is a direct qualifier for the gold cup race on British Champions Day. At a full 2m88y, you can expect some quality long distance runners to contest this one. He put in some good shifts in Dubai this year and was only bested by Cavalryman by three lengths in the Dubai Gold Cup. His most recent outing was a second to Brown Panther in the Goodwood Cup.
Johnny Murtagh gets the mount on Simenon and he’s only been out twice this year but did show some improvement to finish second last time out. The Marju gelding trained by Willy Mullins certainly has a stayer’s pedigree but will need to find a deeper gear if he’s going to pull this one off.

The Sky Bet Strensall Stakes is the third contest of the day and the Group 3 encounter looks like a really quality contest with the likes of City Style and Danadana set to slug it out in this race. Charlie Appleby will be saddling City Style this time out and Silvestre De Sousa will get the mount - in fact he gets the mount for pretty much every Godolphin entry on the day.
