2014 Cesarewitch Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on October 6, 2014 16:59 GMTThere are still a whopping 52 horses in the mix for the 2014 Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket - one of the last big handicaps of the current flat season. While we will see the field clipped down significantly as we get closer to the final declaration stage later on this week, there have still been plenty of interesting swings in the odds during the build-up throughout the past week or so.

Despite so many contenders remaining on the form sheet right now, there are still plenty of interesting options available and the amount of runners who represent solid each-way bets is very numerous.
AJ Martin’s Quick Jack was recently taken into 6/1 from an 8/1 price tag recently and punters will be able to get behind him with a very solid record in handicaps. His distance credentials are undeniable and he actually competed over hurdles at Cheltenham last November - finishing first with Ruby Walsh in the irons when sent off at a very impressive 15/8 price tag against a total of nineteen runners.
He also won a solid handicap contest at Galway back in mid-July when he tangled against a field of twenty, going off as the 4/1 margin. He has a running style that will likely suit him and long distance races can be a lot easier to navigate with so many contenders in the mix because the horses themselves aren’t 100% trip dependant like they are in big field contests that only go 5f or 6f.
It’s interesting to see Quick Jack taking money this early as it does not appear to be each-way money by any respect of the imagination. The punters are clearly backing him to win and that’s a major statement.
