2014 Preakness Betting Preview Pt 2

The biggest rivals at this point include Bayern, a Bob Baffert contender shipping east, and Social Inclusion - who missed the Derby but put in some very good shifts earlier this season. You will also see Ride On Curlin and Strong Mandate likely for this one.

There is also the presence of Ria Antonia - who most figured would be running in the Black Eyed Susan instead.

Danza is commanding an ante post price in the Preakness and he is the next best-priced contender after California Chrome with a listing of about 11/2. It actually looks unlikely that he will run and will probably opt for the Belmont instead where his running style might be more conducive to the longer stretch and deeper, more tiring track.

Social Inclusion is trading at a competitive 10/1 right now and that is probably a longer price than he will go off at - expect to see him in the 8/1 or 7/1 range. Bayern is currently spotted as high as 12/1 and looks good value at that price as well. A talented colt who we really haven’t seen the bottom of - it’s probably just as well that Bayern didn’t draw into the Kentucky Derby as he will probably relish the slightly shorter Preakness distance considerably more.

Commanding Curve is a general 12/1 but he is also unlikely to go to the race and will probably point towards the Belmont if all things go well. They will have enjoyed his race and the West Point Thoroughbreds team did another great job picking up a talented runner who got good at the exactly right time.

Kid Cruz is an interesting outside option and he’s trading at 12/1 with virtually every bookmaker currently offering a Preakness market. Both General A Rod and Ria Antonia are both available at 20/1 shouts right now.
