- By A.J. Ryder on March 15, 2015 18:02 GMTNow that the 2015 Cheltenham Festival is behind us, it’s time to start focusing on the Grand National but there are still plenty of punters out there who already have an eye firmly-fixed on the flat season with the ante post for the 2000 Guineas just starting to heat up.

As we head into the famous 1m contest for entire colts and fillies, we don’t have a genuine stand-out from the two-year-old season and that’s going to make this years iteration of the race even more interesting.
As it currently stands, Gleneagles ranks as the betting choice with one or two books listing him at a 6/1 margin. The majority have him floating around a 7/1 or 8/1 price tag. The O’Brien trained colt was notably disqualified from his big race at Longchamp back in October and was subsequently placed third. Prior to that he had won virtually every race except for his career debut .
He’s got a pair of Group 1 scores at the Curragh and was sitting on a 113 rating coming out of his last race. Obviously, winning five-horse Group 1’s in Ireland is a bit different than what you’ll face in the 2000 Guineas but this years version of the race should have plenty of interesting outsiders and Gleneagles remains a relatively known quantity with six races under his belt so far.
He’s not a bad price but each-way right now probably isn’t the best idea. He also maintains an entry for the Irish 2000 Guineas so if he isn’t ready for the start of May then we could see him opt for that.
