2015 Arkle Chase Betting Preview PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on February 19, 2015 18:17 GMTIt’s obvious that he possesses some genuine speed and virtually everybody will be expecting him to make all and go straight for the lead. Some of the blockbuster victories you’ll see in his hurdling career are testament to his ability to get to the front and continue drawing away as the race goes on. He has won races by over 50 lengths in the past and you just don’t see that every day.

Offering up the challenge in the ante post market are a few decent types and you can assume that there is plenty of interesting options here - particularly with some of them boasting some excellent recent form - just not the blow-out victories that you might see on Un De Sceaux’s record.
Among the main contenders is the respectable Vibrato Valtat, who is a decent 5/1 shot with most major bookmakers. He’ll be coming into the Arkle looking for his third score on the bounce and he also has a pretty credible run at Cheltenham to his credit from back in mid-November when he was able to finish second to Dunraven Storm. What works against him, primarily, is his stalking style as you have to wonder whether he will be able to keep up pace with Un De Sceaux as the race begins to really unfold when they swing around the corner and head for home.
One might assume that he will potentially get up and try to tangle with the talented favourite but he might do better to sit off and make one big run when it really matters most. Making a slightly better wager is the fact that he is only entered for the Arkle - hence the relatively short price.
Vautour is trading anywhere from a 6/1 to 12/1 price tag and that’s a genuinely big variance when you think about - plenty of value out there on this selection if you think he’s got a genuine chance. Like many of the other contenders in this one, he boasts a good series of efforts this year despite only going out for three races since his debut in late November.
