2015 Arkle Chase Betting Preview PT 3

Since then, he has won two and finished second twice - going off at extremely short prices in every single race. He was well-beaten by Clarcam at Leopardstown on Boxing Day and that would have been very disappointing to punters who had him backed all the way down to 1/4 on the day against a field of six.

The winner of last year’s Supreme Novices Hurdle obviously likes Cheltenham and knows how to get himself up the hill - which is really the crucial element for novice hurdlers. The big complication for this one is the fact that he is more than likely to enter the much lighter looking JLT Novices’ Chase and he’s trading at a 5/2 price that indicates punters are fairly confident that he’ll be racing there instead of on the first day of the festival.

The aforementioned Clarcam is in the mix for this one and you can expect him to go to this race as he’s trading at a similar price for the Grand Annual Chase, but the people at Gigginstown House Stud might just want to take a run at Willy Mullins quality contender as he might be more vulnerable than he really looks.

He also boasts an entry to the Queen Mother but trades at 20/1 there so it seems unlikely. Recently beaten by 15 lengths by Un De Sceaux you have to wonder whether Gordon Elliot was able to spot any chinks in the armour of the talented favourite in that race. He has captured a novice chase at Grade 1 level and demands respectability.

With a decent 10/1 price floating around out there, one has to assume that plenty might be preferring him in a place option or opting for an each-way bash, which would be possible if the 10/1 price tag holds up.
