2015 Champion Hurdle Betting Tips PT 1

The opening day at the Cheltenham Festival is always one of the most exciting experiences in racing with so many interesting contests set to unfold amidst massive wagering volume. There is a lot to like about this year’s iteration of the Champion Hurdle and it features one of the festivals biggest bankers according to a number of National Hunt enthusiasts and racing pundits alike.

It isn’t particularly often that those two are agreeing on something in unison but this time around they have seemed nothing but bullish in regards to the chances of the widely-acclaimed hurdler Faugheen.

Undefeated now in eight lifetime starts, the Willy Mullins trainer is coming into this big contests with a price hovering around even money with some bookmakers though most are still giving punters a premium at 11/10.

Surely when we get closer to the actual day we will see a much shorter price with many of us assuming that the odds will go down to 4/5 if Faugheen makes a great pre-race appearance. Expect this one to be a massive addition to a number of multi-race wagers based on the Tuesday card and from those picking a few bankers throughout the festival.

Faugheen has only been out twice so far this season - obviously winning both times - capturing the Grade 2 Coral Hurdle at Ascot and then following that up with a smashing Boxing Day victory at Kempton when he took the Grade 1 Christmas hurdle to give him a hat trick of top level victories over timber.

Despite not taking the last hurdle with his usual gusto, Faugheen still ran on impressively and defeated Purple Bay by a full eight length margin. He rewarded punters at a 4/11 price and those two races set him up nicely for a big run at Festival time.
