The first race upon us on Champions Day is the Long Distance Cup where we have a really good betting contest happening with no real discernable favourite amongst the top entries.

The way it looks right now the betting choice will probably be going off at around 5/1 or so since there’s four different contenders all hovering around that listing right now with most major bookmakers. Forgotten Rules is probably the top choice amongst them and he hasn’t really had the best of seasons so far with just the solitary victory on his seasonal debut at Navan.

He finished a credible third at Royal Ascot in the Gold Cup to Trip To Paris. He was sent off as the 5/2 favourite on the day but failed to deliver with Pat Smullen in the irons as usual. He was last seen in the Irish St Leger going off at a 9/2 margin and finishing well-beaten in fifth to Order of St George about thirteen lengths off the pace.

Qatar Racing has Pallasator who comes in fresh off a Group 2 victory at Doncaster in the Doncaster Cup and he appears to be rounding into form at about the right time. He had a go at this one last year as we ll finishing theird behind Forgotten Rules.
