2015 Cheltenham Festival Tuesday Betting Tips PT 1
- By A.J. Much will be made of the first day and it should set the tone for the rest of the festival with the Irish looking particularly strong on the day.

We have the usual races set to run - three of which are top level stuff and one is the mares hurdle. We’ve also got two handicaps and a listed race to round things off and we’ll be paying a bit more attention to the bigger contests on the day that will attract more volume.
The thing about the Supreme Novice’s Hurdle is that it is always extremely over bet simply because punters have been squirrelling away so much money for Cheltenham and it’s burning a hole in their pockets. While the race is always an exciting one - the simple truth is that many of these horses are only just starting to improve so it makes it more difficult than just backing the genuine stand-out like many attempt to early on in the ante post wagering.
It goes without saying that Douvan is getting the bulk of the attention here but there are also plenty of jumps racing enthusiasts who are opting for the race with L’Ami Serge who trades around a 7/2 margin against Douvan’s 13/8 price tag.
Obviously, Douvan’s got that impressive Grade 2 score under his belt and the Willy Mullins-trained contender oozes quality but the simple fact is that this race is much tougher than the ones that he has faced previously and if somebody simply gets the better trip and is able to find more coming up the hill on the run-in then things could get very interesting very quickly.
