2015 Cheltenham Festival Wednesday Preview PT 3

Formerly considered the premier force in jumps racing, that title now looks to be bestowed on Faugheen as Sprinter Sacre hasn’t really proven that he has successfully recovered from the injury he sustained a while back.

Sire De Grugy has only been out twice this season and even he cocked it up in his opener - unseating Jamie Spencer when sent off at 10/11 and allowing the likes of Mr Mole (who lines up in this one) to hit the line first.

The winner of this race last year, he has certainly shown that he has the quality it takes to win big at the highest level and there will probably be a lot of punters who view the Nine Year-Old as a much more in-form option than Sprinter Sacre and form has been a good handicapping angle so far this year at Cheltenham.

Mr Mole might actually wind up being the winner here and you’ll probably be able to get a good price of around 10/1 if you act quickly. He’s won all three of his efforts this season and one of them includes a Grade 2 victory. He fell last year when attempting the Grand Annual so that’s something to keep in your head as well - Mr. Mole has never won at Cheltenham.

In the cross country chase we have things quite wide open with the favourite, Any Currency, trading at a 5/1 margin right now with most major bookmakers. You can also find Sire Collonges that low depending on whom you’re betting with while Duke of Lucca looks competitive as well going forward into tomorrow. Ipsos Du Berlais could wind up being a powerful hunch play.

The Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle Handicap is coming up after that oen and it looks to be all about the likes of Hostile Fire - but there are about 10 solid contenders all trading around the same price for this one - it is very difficult to handicap so it might be a better idea to watch how the odds move around before the race.

The final race of the day is the Champion Bumper and we’ve got Bordini - another quality Willy Mullins entry considered as the outright favourite here and he comes in off a victory at Navan against a very good field. Moon Racer is the other one to watch and he’s got a victory at Cheltenham under his belt when he defeated Arabic History in a bumper race back in October.
