2015 Chesham Stakes Betting Preview PT 1

The final day of the 2015 Royal Ascot meeting kicks off on Saturday with a solid wagering card that should see the week’s racing come to a very exciting crescendo indeed. We have seen some really good racing over the past four days and there is absolutely no reason to think that we won’t see any more fantastic finishes.

It has been thrills and chills aplenty throughout the week and the opening race should keep that momentum going. The Chesham Stakes is a 7f race for juveniles and offers up the distinction of being the longer two-year-old race at the meeting. There are a lot of very lightly raced contenders in this one so it’s a bit of a lottery all things considered - particularly the well-fancied Godolphin entry Cymric who actually makes his debut in this one.

John Gosden trains and William Buick is booked for the trip with the price hovering around 12/1 right now which is a solid offering for this relatively interesting field. The betting choice, however, appears to be Ballydoyle who is campaigned by none other than Ballydoyle and will get the usual O’Brien/Moore treatment.

Ryan Moore was able to set a Royal Ascot record and capture his ninth win of the meeting in the lucky last at Ascot today as he romped home on Aloft to win as the 5/2 favourite. He’ll be looking to make it ten wins in the opener at Royal Ascot on Saturday and they are trading at 5/4 to get the job done.

He was a beaten favourite in his first effort ever, only able to muster up a pretty tame fourth place finish in a field of eight contenders at The Curragh. He’ll be better for the run that day but you have to wonder whether it makes sense to look elsewhere as he just may not be able to match up against some of the real wildcard entries that you’ll have here at much better prices.
