2015 Chesham Stakes Betting Preview PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on June 19, 2015 18:08 GMTIt will be worth watching how the odds fluctuate on Ballydoyle as you have to reckon everybody is itching to hit a big double-up early by playing the jockey and he’s set to ride a horse trained by Sir Michael Stoute (who has had a deplorable Royal Ascot meeting so far) so they will likely be opting for the O’Brien trainee to stake their money on instead.

Godolphin will saddle Tonkinese, who was able to win a very tricky race at Leopardstown a few weeks ago when sent off as the 8/11 favourite. The front-running style in which he won the race is made even more impressive by the fact that the winning margin was three lengths. The punters certainly got their money’s worth on him that day if they backed him as it was seemingly never in doubt.
He gets a jockey upgrade as well from Shane Foley to James Doyle and looks to be the preferred entry for the blue team here with the other trading at higher odds. At the time of this writing, you’ll find Tonkinese available to be backed at a solid price of about 4/1 with most major bookmakers.
Another one that’s definitely worth mentioning is another American runner who lines up for Wesley Ward - the Joel Rosario-piloted Love The Kitten who is another homebred from Ramsey Farms and their stallion Kitten’s Joy. He was a beaten favourite last time out at Woodbine when he ran in a maiden contest against only two other contenders. He was beaten at Keeneland in his career debut by the respected Bruised Orange and he will be looking to get over his second-itis here.
Expect her to be another one who goes right to the lead and attempts to stay on - a feat that might be a little tricky considering the fact that some of the other really talented runners in this race are expected to deploy a very similar style of running in this big contest.
Punters will find Love The Kitten available at a solid 8/1 price tag.
