Golden Horn remains undefeated from his four career efforts and the past two have come over the likes of Jack Hobbs who appears to have a serious case of second-itis going on here. Currently rated on 134 and looming large as the top contender in his three-year-old division, the Derby winner does his best running coming from the back of the field and making a determined dash for the line at just the right time. He appears to have a number of different gears and he really appeared to forge a good relationship with Frankie Dettori in their last outing in the 2015 Epsom Derby.

Frankie was also aboard for his seasonal debut in the Feilden Stakes at Newmarket - a listed contest where he got the better of a field of seven by a length and a half over Peacock. Sent off as the 2/1 favourite for the day, it wasn’t exactly the deepest field but many top yards were represented.

The really fascinating story here is the fact that the Epsom Derby winner is set to tangle with the winner of the French equivalent race as New Bay enters after winning the Prix Du Jockey Club at Chantilly just a couple of weeks ago. He beat out Highland Reel (who looks likely to be the second favourite this weekend against Jack Hobbs in the Irish Derby). The punters seem confident in his ability and they’ve rated him as the second choice in the market even without actually having even won a race outside of his native France.

Expect him to continue building on the good momentum that he has built up so far this year and that win at Chantilly was a vindicating thing for him so you can expect that he’ll be able to kick on here and give Golden Horn the type of challenge that you can expect from a runner of his calibre.

The Grey Gatsby has also been pointed towards this one and he has quickly proven himself to be a genuine fan favourite. This was particularly exacerbated after just missing by a hairsbreath to Free Eagle in the Prince of Wales at Royal Ascot as the photo was so close but still so far off for punters who backed him at a very tidy price of 9/2.
