Desite being four lengths or so off the pace and sent out of the gates as the 6/4 favourite, Solow has proven to be slightly different gravy and finishing second to him is really not denigrating The Grey Gatsby.

The winner of last year’s Prix Du Jockey Club and the Irish Champions Stakes at Leopardstown, The Grey Gatsby comes into the race with some bookmakers listing him as high as a 6/1 margin but the vast majority of the others pricing him much closer to the 5/1 range.
There are still question marks over whether Dermot Weld’s Free Eagle will line up in this one but the vanquisher of The Grey Gatsby in the aforementioned Prince of Wales Stakes does have an entry for this one and several bookmakers seemed to have been pricing him around the 8/1 range right now. That victory at Royal Ascot was a useful seasonal debut and if he is pointed here he could be poised to go up another gear two off the freshening.
John Gosden saddles up Western Hymn, a four-year-old son of High Chaparral that many of us saw last time out in the Prince of Wales. He was able to lock in a third place finish on the day and he has had some very pronounced success over the surface at Sandown and remains undefeated in three tries - all of which came at the Group 3 level so far.
He has the advantage of being able to race in a variety of different ways so his tactical speed could prove decisive if he gets the right type of pace scenario and trip set-up. Look for him anywhere from an 8/1 price tag all the way up to some bookmakers who offer a 12/1 listing.
