2015 Darley July Cup Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on July 8, 2015 19:50 GMTIt is looking like Godolphin will be hoping it’s second time lucky for Brazen Beau as his second chance at winning a Group 1 in England is to come just after he was denied in epic fashion during the Royal Ascot meeting. He is in an absolutely straight-up shoot out or the favourites position in the widely-anticipated 6f contest and he’ll be looking to avenge that half-length loss to Undrafted in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

The Chris Waller-trained charge has been making short work of most of his Australian opposition throughout the past couple of years and he was a widely-vaunted 7/2 joint-favourite for the big British debut at Ascot and he ran a credible race but could not match the craft of Dettori and the spirited enthusiasm with which Undrafted traveled on his way home.
A multiple Group 1 winner back in Australia, Brazen Beau has captured the attention of the racing world for his fantastic appearance - he truly is a benchmark physical specimen and he boasts a winning attitude to match.
Right now, the bookmakers have him battling it out as the betting favourite in the ante post markets for the July Cup as we are just a day before the declaration stage from being initiated. You’ll find his price trading anywhere from a 2/1 or 5/2 margin and it will be interesting to see how those odds move around a bit during the build up to the race itself.
His chief competition is the respected Muhaarar, who is one of the emerging three-year-old jewels in Sheikh Hamdan’s yard. Trained by Charlie Hills and coming in off a Royal Ascot victory in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, this bay colt by Oasis Dream doesn’t boast the high profile of Brazen Beau but he certainly has proven that he has the ability to tangle with the best of them.
