2015 Darley July Cup Betting Preview PT 3

Prior to that they had him out handicapping and he picked off a few nice ones against larger fields at tracks like Doncaster and York. His only previous effort at Newmarket was in a Class 3 two years ago where he was beaten by none other than Lancelot Du Lac, of all horses.

The biggest name in the market right now, however, is definitely going to be Sole Power - the globetrotting sprinting superstar continues to do battle at the top level and he’s coming in off a credible fifth place in the King’s Stand but he’ll be looking to improve on that here despite the fact that he’s not getting anywhere near the same level of respect at the betting windows.

Right now he’s trading as a general 14/1 in the market and he’ll be looking to channel that excellent run he put together when he was able to best some of the world’s top sprinters in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan back on the Dubai World Cup under card. He finished a half-length ahead of Peniaphobia and he’ll be much closer to each-way territory here than he was that day so you can see him being a very appealing part of your forecast tickets as well.

Anthem Alexander, a three-year-old stand-out by Starspangledbanner will look to build on his third place performance in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. He won his seasonal debut at Naas this year and will be going third off the freshening here so that’s an extra checkmark for him since you reckon we haven’t quite since the bottom of him so far this season.

He was in a pitched battle with Tiggy Wiggy last year throughout his two-year-old campaign and managed to get the better of him on one of three occasions, ultimately finishing second to him in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket last September. Look for him in the 16/1 rage.
