2015 Dubai Sheema Classic Betting Tips

We have a very cosmopolitan cast setting up for the 2015 Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines and there are a number of respected international shippers coming in for this one so you can expect some very dynamic odds in a market that should be very robust. It’s very competitive as about three contenders jockey for the favourites position while five horses remain in the mix at single digit prices for the moment.

Harp Star has been travelling the world and taking on some of the biggest races anywhere on the planet but has failed to actually get a result since taking the Grade 2 Sapporo Kinen last year over Gold Ship. Being beaten by Treve and Epiphaneia aren’t anything to get too upset about but it’s her poor performance in her seasonal debut at Kyoto where she finished fifth from eleven that really makes you question whether she deserves the 3/1 price tag she’s floating at right now.

Designs On Rome is a fascinating contender who comes in from Sha Tin and will be looking for his fourth score on the bounce. He has been tangling with the top division over there and has disposed of the likes of Helene Super Star and Military Attack in the last few months. He also scored a memorable series of victories over the talented Able Friend.

Look for Designs On Rome at about 4/1 and a price that may drop below Harp Star’s in the European betting markets.

American contender Main Sequence comes in after winning the Breeders’ Cup Turf and being basically undefeated in his last five races - all contested at Grade 1 level. He has dominated the turf division in America and was a competitive choice for the title of American Horse of the Year - which is a big feat for a horse competing over grassy surfaces.

He got things off to a great start this season when he captured the Mac Diarmida Stakes at Gulfstream on his seasonal debut back in mid-February. Look for him to make a big impression here at a very competitive price of about 11/2 - be happy you aren’t betting him on the US Markets - where he is expected to go off as the outright betting favourite.

Those looking for an outside contender might opt for the likes of Sheikhzayedroad who won at Woodbine last year was able to finish second to Sky Hunter in a Grade 2 at Meydan a few weeks ago. He’s trading at 20/1 and could get a piece of the action in a very short field.
