2015 Grand National Betting Preview PT 2

He has been out twice this year and won on both occasions - both races contested over his specialty long distances. He has also been off the track since early November and will be coming into the race fresh and proven in the National - expect him to be a benchmark each-way bet and a genuine win contender if he gets some luck along the way and doesn’t struggle with traffic trouble.

Rocky Creek lines up for Paul Nicholls barn and he was a sharp selection for many last year when he was sent off in the National at a 16/1 price tag and managed to finish a very credible fifth place. Though he was nearly 20 lengths behind the winner, he still delivered for punters who were betting each-way or place-only. He skipped Cheltenham that year and has done so again here so Nicholls obviously is not seeking to deviate too much from what they were doing before.

He won a Grade 3 contest at Kempton in late February and looked good doing it - pulling off a stellar six length victory over Le Reve when sent off at an 8/1 listing.

Looking out at another major National contender we have The Druids Nephew who trades at either 14/1 or 12/1 and comes into the race off a smashing victory at Cheltenham in the Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase, which is a Grade 3 event.

He has been campaigned significantly more than a few of the others here and heads into his first attempt at this famous race at Aintree. He won earlier this season at Huntington when he took a Class 3 handicap chase over the likes of Kilbree Kid when he was sent off at 4/6 but that’s not really that credible of a reference. We know that he can stay a decent distance but you wonder how much that Cheltenham race took out of him as he generally has two months off between races.

Regardless, there are plenty of interesting runners going long for the Grade 3 Aintree Grand National.
