2015 Hong Kong Sprint Betting Tips PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on November 14, 2015 17:42 GMTThis year’s iteration of the Hong Kong International Races is looking especially appealing and the Hong Kong Sprint has proven time and again that it is able to deliver an exciting race and some great payouts for punters who are able to decipher this tricky puzzle. Expect a similar scenario to many other years where you have a significant favourite who stands atop the field like a colossus looming over this one. Chautauqua is certainly not to be trifled with in this contest but you have to assume there are plenty who will try and beat him.
The way it looks right now the bookmakers have Chautauqua trading an at odds-on price of about 10/11 right now depending on whom you’re wagering with. It’s going to be fascinating to see what odds he goes off at in the local pools - which will have the bulk of the betting volume on the big Sunday card at Sha Tin.
He was beaten by a short head in his last effort on the Melbourne Cup undercard at Flemington when Delectation got the better of him despite Chautauqua going off at an odds-on price once again. Prior to that he had taken three scores on the bounce and looked good doing it - the latter of which was the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Mooney Valley.
Chautauqua will need to be monitored quite closely by punters during the morning track work during the build up to the big race at Sha Tin because it will be his first time racing outside of his native Australia. There is a lot to like about his ability but with the talented group lining up here to take him on you have to wonder whether he’s actually going to be able to get the better of them when it matters most.
Lord Kanaloa was built up in a similar fashion and was a similar price prior to his 2013 romp - which set the new standard for the race in terms of margin of victory. Sole Power, who returns here for another kick at the can, was able to muster up a strong second place finish and came in at a massive price in the local pools - a delight to whomever played that easy quinella.
