2015 Hong Kong Vase Betting Tips PT 1
- By A.J. With plenty to look forward to in this 1m4f turf contest, we will see a number of respected international runners all link up in a race that promises to be an absolute classic.
The market is currently being headlined by Flintshire, who was last seen finishing second to Golden Horn at Longchamp in the 2015 Arc De Triomphe. Sent off on the day at a hefty price of 20/1 he delivered in a big way for the each-way punters and build up a fairly solid body of work over the last two years - punching it out amongst the best the world has to offer at his distance.
The globetrotting Juddmonte-bred has formed a solid relationship with Maxime Guyon over the years but saw Vincent Cheminaud in in the irons for two of his last three efforts - one a second place finish to Treve at Saint Cloud while the latter was a winning effort at Saratoga in the Grade 1 Sword Dancer stakes.
Flintshire has never finished outside of the top three since mid-June of 2014 and that includes a solid eleven efforts spaced out over three continents. Now he heads out for his second race at Sha Tin and looms large as the 7/2 favourite in the ante post markets with most major bookmakers.
In what looks to be a deep race lacking a genuine punters choice, the bookmakers appear to be turning towards Dominant as a significant favourite for this one despite not actually having won a race since December of 2013. Should he be able to roll back to the effort he displayed on May 31st at Sha Tin when he finished second by a short head to Helene Super Star in a Grade 1 effort.
