2015 Investec Oaks Betting Preview PT 2

She is relatively heavily-raced when compared to some others in the mix here. She opened up her 2015 flat season with a disappointing fourth from eight in a Group 3 contest at Leopardstown but then romped home by nearly four lengths next up in a listed race at Gowran Park.

Wayne Lordan had been the pilot in all the previous races but the switch to Moore proved to be decisive at just the right time.

Crystal Zvezda has a price that hovers around the 7/2 to 3/1 margin and she’s proving a popular selection here for Sir Michael Stoute who lines up Sir Evelyn De Rothschild’s Dubawi filly fresh off a solid listed victory at Newbury in a seasonal debut. Only been on the racetrack three times and losing on the first occasion in a Newbury maiden race, she was able to triumph late last October in a Class 5 maiden contest at Lingfield.

Now it appears as though the punters are more than ready to make an impression in the betting market here as they reckon she’s more than able to tangle with the 1000 Guineas winner. She proved her ability to handle the distance and rattled off the 1m2f with relative ease. She made very rapid headway with a few furlongs remaining and this makes you feel as though she’ll more than handle the distance on offer here.

Despite being less qualified in terms of races won than Legatissimo, this one has a lot fewer question marks over the ability to be the best at the distance. You also have to respect that she was able to defeat a big group of 12 contenders not some 5 horse field.

The third choice appears to be a straight shoot-out between the likes of Diamondsandrubies along with Jack Naylor. Both are trading at a relatively solid 7/1 price tag right now and the former - a daughter of Fastnet Rock - enters off a very nice listed score at Chester back in early May when she beat out a field of ten finishing six lengths ahead of nearest challenger Entertainment.

Jack Naylor, on the other hand, was a disappointing fourth in the Irish 1000 Guineas on her seasonal debut last week and was only 2 lengths behind the ultimate winner. She was a 16/1 shout on the day and this one looks to be more her distance. She also has the added benefit for having toppled Legatissimo at the Curragh last year in a listed contest.
