2015 Kentucky Derby Betting Tips PT 1

This year’s iteration of the Kentucky Derby looks to be one of the absolutely best yet with plenty of action and excitement in store for one of the biggest and most storied thoroughbred races on the planet.

The American three-year-old showpiece kicks off the annual pursuit of the Triple Crown and a number of racing observers from around the world have pointed to the contest this year as a potentially legendary renewal thanks to the outstanding strength in depth that punters have seen so far from this fantastic crop of American three-year-olds.

As has been typical in the last couple of years, it is the California-based horses that appear to be holding the bulk of the cards with Bob Baffert coming into the Kentucky Derby with an impressive line-up of charges.

Though his field has been reduced to two since the withdrawal of My Lucky Dane, who was knocked off the Derby trail after picking up a small injury in training at Santa Anita yesterday, Baffert still retains the top two contenders in the ante post wagering with the misspelled American Pharoah and the impressive (and undefeated) Dortmund who stands a massive 17 hands already.

After American Pharoah romped home by many lengths in the Arkansas Derby (the de facto final Derby prep for the season) the bookmakers really seemed to take a position that he is the definite one to beat despite just the solitary run this year prior to Kentucky.

He won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last year in good form and boasts plenty of speed in addition to the ability to rate from off the pace - which could be a much needed move in the repertoire in order to ensure success in Louisville on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs.
