2015 King George Ante Post Betting Preview PT 2

By all stretches of the imagination he probably should win the race but the King George is a tough contest for a reason and if he is going to make any mistakes then it could certainly cost him dearly with the talented opponents that he has lining up against him here.

Vautour is considered to be the most likely spoiler here and he enters into the race off the back of a score in his seasonal debut which came in the Stella Artois 1965 Chase. He was sent off at a very short price tag at a 2/5 listing with Ruby Walsh in the irons last time out. He finished off his 2015 season quite well capturing the JLT Novices Chase at Cheltenham by a fifteen length margin over Apache Stronghold.

Willy Mullins has a solid record in this race and Ruby Walsh certainly know how to win big contests like this one. He has been continually sent off at very short prices with that score at Cheltenham still seeing him listed as the 6/4 betting choice in a field of eight. The bookmakers haven’t really quite been able to nail down an outright price on him just yet but he’s floating anywhere from 3/1 down to 5/2 at the moment with a few books also going at an 11/4 margin.

Vautour is still relatively lightly-raced this season with just the one effort under his belt so you have to assume that he still has a significant amount of upside here so it’s worth keeping an eye on his odds to pull this one off. Expect him to be well-poised to take full advantage of anything that Don Cossack gets wrong.

Cue Card is considered to be the other key spoiler here and is the only other horse trading within this odds threshold. You’ll find him floating at the exact same price as Vautour in a few different locations but some books go as high as a 7/2 margin at the time of this writing.
