2015 King George Ante Post Betting Preview PT 4
- By A.J. Ryder on December 21, 2015 19:01 GMTHe was as long as 7/2 that day which shows that punters really didn’t buy this as a race he was sent out to actually win with Brother Todd pulling off the victory by a full four length margin.
Silviniaco Conti was able to pull off the big victory here at Kempton in the King George last year and he looked good doing it. He didn’t exactly jump as fluently as you would really want him to early on but when his rivals loomed up and looked to make their impression on the race, Silviniaco Conti was able to draw off and win the race relatively comfortably by a four and a half length margin.
He was a 3/1 margin that day when he won at Kempton last year and he had been beaten in a previous start that year as well - finishing fifth as Menorah pulled off the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby. It will be assumed that he has been clearly pointed at this one and if he can pull off the victory then anybody backing him at this price (which really brings him into each-way territory if you think about it) will look pretty start if he hits the line first.
Smad Place made a big impression in his last race and will be seeking his third score on the bounce so far in this undefeated season. Some bookmakers have him trading as low as a 15/2 margin but several have him priced as high as a 9/1 margin which will certainly look appealing to some who saw him take down his last race in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.
Prior to that he pulled off the victory at Kempton on his season debut with the bookmakers sending him out of the gate at a 6/4 margin in that Class 2 Chase contest. It wasn’t so much the victory that he showed in the Hennessy Gold Cup but it was the manner of the victory that really gave clues about how good he his performance really was.
