- By A.J. Ryder on September 22, 2015 17:40 GMTComing out of Richard Hannon’s yard is the aforementioned Gutaifan who is a son of Dark Angel out of a Lahib mare. He has a pair of Group 2 scores to his credit and was recently seen capturing the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster on St Leger day and he’s set to follow it up here with another big attempt. He has put together a good volume of work so far and is also owned by Shalaa’s ownership group in Qatar.

On merit though, he does appear to be a step below Shalaa in terms of upside - at least at the age of two so far. You’ll find him priced at a margin of around 8/1 with most major bookmakers.
Looking at another 8/1 contender we have William Hagas who lines up Ajaya with Graham Gibbons in the irons. You’ll remember him from his winning run at York in the Gimcrack Stakes back in late August and he has been on the shelf for about a month pointing towards this contest. He’s done some solid stuff in the past but has only won at York so you have to wonder whether he will be able to translate his recent form to another track.
Aidan O’Brien saddles Waterloo Bridge - a son of Zoffany out of a Dr Fong mare. He seeks his third score on the bounce despite being unlaced since taking the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot with Ryan Moore up that day. He had only just broken his maiden at Tipperary but they look to have him more or less figured out at this point in time anyway. He’s trading at a 10/1 margin.
Other notables include the numerous Godolphin entries for Log Out Island, Steady Pace and Venturous - who seems to be the one with the most upside here despite despite not boasting a really impressive rating but still trading at a very competitive listing of about 16/1.
