2015 Neptune Novices’ Chase Betting Tips PT 1

The Neptune Novices’ has always been a tricky wagering task at Cheltenham - particularly if you are doing a lot of your betting ante post. Many of the entrants here are co-entered into a variety of other races including the Albert Bartlett Hurdle and the Supreme Novices.

This always necessitates a significant amount of hedging and homework if you plan to back some of the bigger priced selections who also boast co-entries. Paying close attention to news coming out of each stable will give you a huge advantage in this contest - particularly if your bet is in each-way territory.

Right now, it looks likely that Nichols Canyon is going to be go off as the favourite if nothing else happens to change that in the interim. He has co-entries for the Supreme Novices and the Albert Bartlett but he’s priced at 14/1 for each of those and a 4/1 margin for this one.

It’s more than likely that his connections will choose the path of least resistance and the Willy Mullins charge should be set to continue his excellent run of form, which has seen him take three from four this season with the only blemish coming when he unseated Ruby Walsh at Leopardstown in the Paddy Power Future Champion Novice Hurdle back in late December.

Expect him to enjoy the ground if its a bit deeper that day and he comes into the contest with a good victory under his belt in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle. A listed winner on the flat, he has a good opportunity to kick on nicely here and flash some of that genuine speed.
