Things are definitely starting to get exciting over at Pimlico Racecourse outside of Baltimore, Maryland as the 2015 Preakness Stakes is nearly upon us. The eyes of the thoroughbred racing world are going to be firmly-fixed on Old Hilltop tomorrow as American Phaoroah will go off as the odds-on favourite to give us a live Triple Crown heading into the Belmont Stakes.

In a pleasant rematch of the top 3 finishers from the Kentucky Derby, we’re expecting another tough battle for the son of Pioneerof The Nile as he will have to do battle with Firing Line and Dortmund once again in order to ensure that the Belmont Stakes could be a date with history. 

There is a lot to like about the undercard for the Preakness as well with a number of deep stakes races set to unfold during the pinnacle of the mid-Atlantic thoroughbred racing season. 

While none of the races aside from the feature contest carry massive purses, there is still plenty of excitement in store and you can expect some really good betting races as the depth in some of these contests is really impressive. One of the things that always Pimlico and Preakness day in particular so interesting is the fact that we have horses shipping in from all over the place ready to take a tilt at a track they only get to maybe once a year. 

The Longines Dixie Stakes is definitely one of the most appealing undercard races you’ll find and the Grade 2 contest boasts a full field of fourteen with a pair of also-eligibles in the mix as well. The morning line favourite appears to be Christophe Clement’s War Correspondent, who will line up with John Velasquez in the irons.
