He rounded out the trifecta in the Longines Hong Kong Cup back in December when he was finishing up about a length behind Designs on Rome and Military Attack.

He was steadily reeled in over the final furlong in that race so you wonder whether they will attempt slightly different tactics in a contest that is more than likely to unfold in a very similar fashion.
Military Attack has only been out once this year in the Citibank Hong Kong Gold Cup when he finished fourth from eight to Designs on Rome but he seldom actually wins his first race of the year so that could be taken as a write-off effort. The betting public certainly wasn’t all that keen on him, sending him out of the gate at an 18/5 price tag which is telling for a former Hong Kong champion.
It would also be impossible not to mention Red Cadeaux who returns to this race as Britain’s winningest thoroughbred who has seemingly tackled races on every continent except for Antarctica. Though he’s not actually won a race since 2012 when he took the Longines Hong Kong Vase, he has put in some very credible performances and delivered at some seriously nice prices even for those just backing him to place.
He finished second in last year’s Melbourne Cup and recently finished second to Criterion at Royal Randwick. He was trading at 20/1 in both of those contests and there will be plenty who consider him in with a shout to hit the board here.
A genuine fan-favourite that has earned the respect and admiration of racing fans from all over the planet, you’ll find Red Cadeaux trading at a price hovering between 12/1 and 16/1.
