2015 QEII Betting Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on October 16, 2015 22:22 GMTWe’ve got the de facto finale of the British flat season unfolding at Ascot tomorrow and there are a number of exciting races that we’ve already been through earlier in the week. Today we turn our attention to the QEII, which serves as the coming attraction to the Champion Stakes and this contest looks to really be a dogfight between a pair of contenders - though one of them might not actually make it into the gate on Saturday either.

Needless to say, when Gleneagles is going to run in a race the concern becomes 110% about the quality of the ground underfoot and the Ballydoyle connections have declared that a few drops of rain would see the 2000 Guineas winner withdraw and opt for a run at the Breeders’ Cup instead.
The bookmakers are all over Solow, who will be seeking his sixth race on the bounce so far this season and he hasn’t, in fact, lost a race since a tame sixth in the Prix Victomesse at Longchamp back in May of 2014. It’s been eight races since then and you’re still able to back the talented son of Singspiel at a price from anywhere of even money up to 11/8 depending on which bookmaker you’re wagering with.
Gleneagles is also undefeated this season (in fact with just a single loss in his entire career on his Leopardstown debut) but he’s been embroiled with a steady stream of withdrawals from a number of prominent races. With early reports already indicating that it is spitting slightly in the region of Ascot racecourse there is every chance that he won’t actually run.
The bookmakers have him hovering around a 15/8 margin right now and looking like he could really give Solow a run if the two wind up facing off.
