2015 Royal Ascot Day Two Betting Preview PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on June 16, 2015 12:45 GMTWednesday’s action at Royal Ascot looks to have taken a very interesting and unfortunate turn as the news was announced on Monday that American superstar California Chrome would miss the Wednesday feature race - the St James Palace Stakes - after his connections discovered a foot abscess. While he was certainly not considered an outright favourite for the race in any jurisdiction, many were eagerly anticipating getting a look at the blue collar American champion from last year.
It appears as though the damage is not going to be long-term and the horse will be ready to race again soon. However it looks like this time his racing will be stateside with many considering the Arlington Million to be his next most likely destination in the 2015 season.
As we turn our attention to Wednesday’s card, we have some really solid-looking races and, as usual, we must contend with some really big fields to get the better of the massive selection of punters who will be trying their luck on all of these extremely interesting races.
The action gets underway with the Group 3 Jersey Stakes and we have a tough field of 16 going here with the well-bred Sir Isaac Newton likely to get plenty of attention at a very enticing 10/1 price with most major bookmakers. He recently took a maiden contest at Gowran Park over a good field and he was close on both of his prior racing occasions - mustering up second place finishes.
This is the only time he has ever been sent off at over even money so there might be a few punters here who think he’s got what it takes to genuinely get the job done here for the Smith/Magnier/Tabor triumverate.
