2015 St Leger Betting Preview PT 4

Ryder on September 4, 2015 19:13 GMTWhile he was a fifth place finisher in that last outing it doesn't look too bad on paper considering the big field but he was soundly beaten by nearly seven lengths and there isn't a huge amount of turn-around time between now and then. Expect him to be in the mix potentially for a placing but the 8/1 price tag out there on him right now is just too short when you consider the type of quality he's running against here.

The odds then take a pretty big jump as we get up towards Giovanni Canaletto who can be backed at a price of around 14/1 to 16/1 and he looks pretty good getting that aspect of things done and taken care of if all you are looking at him for is a potential place horse. You don't expect many books will be offering up the chance the pay four places here with only 11 in the mix.
Giovanni Canaletto is still yet to win a race this year and that's going to be an issue for anybody playing him anywhere but the bottom end of a tricast wager.
Outspoken looks to be a very interesting option for the Coolmore outfit and this one appears to have a bit more upside despite needing to get over to the all weather to make a score a few races back. He comes into this one based off a third place finish in the Melrose Stakes at York a few weeks back. He was sent off as a 6/1 co-favourite and the fact remains that he was beaten less than a length so he might be worth having a bash on each-way if you reckon that he gets up here and can flourish late on. There is no doubt about his ability to get he distance and he may even want a little bit longer. An interesting breeding specimen by Galileo out of a Dynaformer mare this one likely has the attitude that might see him hang tough amongst this tricky group of contenders.
Punters will find Outspoken at anywhere from 14/1 all the way to a 20/1 price tag with several top bookmakers.
Medrano has been out several times this year but just struggles to make the breakthrough with only a single score in his six or seven outings this season. You'll find him trading anywhere between 20/1 and 33/1 with a place being his real only goal here. Vengeur Masque is an interesting option here with a 20/1 price tag up against a 33/1 listing. Hobart rounds out the Coolmore entry all the way to 50s where he is joined by Proposed as the longest shots on the board.
