2015 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Preview PT 2

Undefeated since moving to Britain, he has captured a Class 1 listed race at Newbury and then ventured on to take the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Trial at Ascot (winning by an impressive seven lengths) and then captured a Grade 1 with his victory in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown just after New Years Day.

It wasn’t so much the victory itself at Sandown, but the manner of the victory, that really proved his credentials as a viable Supreme Novices candidate. He won by a smashing 14 lengths, which in a Grade 1, is extremely comfortable even if the horse was sent off at a 4/9 margin.

Punters will find him trading as low as about 4/1 but you can track down a 9/2 price if you are looking for one right now, depending on whom you are actually planning to wager with.

Following up on L’Ami Serge, the odds then take a pretty big jump up to Harry Fry’s trainee Jollyallan who can be backed as low as 9/1. He failed in his only attempt at a listed race back at the end of January, just bested by half a length over Garde La Victoire at Sandown. Prior to that he scored on the King George undercard in a Class 2 novice hurdle against Sempre Medici when he was sent off at a 5/4 price tag in what turned out to be a great 4.5 length margin of victory.

Then we can move onto Nichols Canyon who is trading at a 10/1 margin right now and he’s actually the most impressive candidate in the race when you are looking at Grade 1 victories as he’s got a pair of them to his credit. He took the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown back in early February and he also took the Royal Bond Novices’ Hurdle at Fairyhouse in late November.

Nichols Canyon was a decent flat runner who has several listed victories to his credit and should be respected based on his proven ability to handle the smaller fences as well.
