2015 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Preview PT 3
- By A.J. Ryder on February 17, 2015 18:47 GMTThe issue complicating his presence in the Supreme is the much shorter price he is carrying for the Neptune Novices’ where he is a 4/1 shout against the much higher 10/1 he trades at right now.

If you’re looking towards a Willy Mullins charge in the Supreme, you would probably do much better to keep your eyes on Shaneshill, who is also co-entered for the Neptune but is a 10/1 shout there compared to his Supreme price of 14/1. He has been in good nick as of late and has already beat some quality contenders in the past.
Notably, Shaneshill finished second to Silver Concorde at last year’s Cheltenham Festival when both of them attempted to get the better of each other in the Champion Bumper. He was sent off as the 7/2 favourite in a field of 22 and that shows you how much confidence the punters had in him on the day.
He was only bested by Silver Concorde by a one and a half length margin and he was able to bounce right back and get the better of him when the two tangled about a month later at the Punchestown Festival. After that went down, he was able to kick off the season with a good maiden hurdle victory at Fairyhouse when he went off at an extremely short 2/11 price tag in a massive field of 16. Following that, his only other effort this season was a second place finish at Navan in the Grade 2 Navan Hurdle.
Speaking of Silver Concorde, he also features on the ante post market for the Supreme Novices and punters have the benefit of knowing that this is the only race he is actually entered in at the festival. He was well-beaten by Nichols Canyon at Leopardstown last out and is still yet to actually break his maiden going over obstacles. He failed to capture a maiden hurdle at Leopardstown despite going off at a slim 1/3 in a field of nine.
He can be backed anywhere from 16/1 all the way up to 25/1 and is a pretty intense gamble if you think he has a genuine chance.
