2015 Travers Stakes Betting Preview PT 3

The one to really keep your eye on here - at least to offer up some excellent potential for each-way value - is to watch out for Keen Ice, who was able to make a really nice late run in the Haskell Stakes to finish well behind American Pharoah (nobody would have caught him that day anyway) but he was able to blow past the rest of the field with ease and he has the look of another one of those excellent late-running colts owned by perennial Derby trail contenders Donegal Racing.

Keen Ice is priced at a general 16/1 listing at the moment and could be a very lucrative wager since he is definitely pointed at the race (and that’s much more than you can say for a lot of the other contenders on the ante post list). Look for him to make a potent exacta combination with American Pharoah for the second race in a row - something that will be a lucrative play for punters.

Japan is widely-regarded by many but no longer looks like he will make the race despite bookmakers offering up odds of 33/1 at the moment. You’ll find that Upstart is more than likely to actually make it to the race unless his connections prefer to contest the upcoming Pennsylvania Derby at Parx Racing in three-weeks time for the big money casino purses they boast in Pennsylvania.

He can be backed right now at a 25/1 margin which makes him seem significantly more likely at a price below a good portion of the other contenders here. Some bookmakers have listed Madefromlucky priced at a 25/1 listing while others have him floated at a 33/1 margin.

Rounding out the field is the likes of Smart Transition, Tale of Verve and Far Right - all of them priced around a 40/1 or 50/1 margin depending on whom you’re wagering with right now.
