2016 Arkle Challenge Trophy Betting Tips PT 2

The main spoilers here for Douvan appear to include Vaniteux and Ar Mad with Vaniteux looming as the slightly shorter-priced option. He comes into the race fresh off a victory in the Grade 2 Lightning Novices’ Chase at Doncaster back in late Janury when he was sent off at a 6/4 margin. Prior to that he was defeated by Ar Mad at Kempton the day after boxing day despite being sent off at an odds-on price of 10/11.

He has only been racing over proper fences for three efforts and has looked good but he just doesn’t look like he is anywhere near the calibre it will take to defeat the likes of Douvan. 

Punters will find Vaniteux as short as 9/4 Non Runner No Bet but he is a 7/1 shout elsewhere.

Ar Mad is still undefeated this season and has been looking good in all of his chase contests in particular the last race he ran where he took a Class 3 novice chase at Plumpton by a 25 length margin. His most notable achievement has been the King Genry VIII Stakes at Sandown which is a Grade 1 contest at a hefty 14/1 margin. 

Ar Mad can be backed in the 8/1 range but he is also 5/2 on a non-runner no bet basis. 

Some of the other contenders in the mix here include L’Ami Serge at a 16/1 margin while Garde La Victoire can be backed at a 20/1 price tag with several bookmakers. Sizing John is a 20/1 shout as well and could make a real impression here with any errors from the leading contenders.
