2016 Supreme Novices Hurdle Betting Preview PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on February 9, 2016 18:17 GMTMin’s main rivals appear to be a trio of contenders - Altior, Buveur D’Air and Yorkhill. Of the three, Altior trades as the shorter selection with most bookmakers pricing him as a general 5/1 margin. His price is short because he is only pointed at this race unlike some of the others in the mix here who are pointed at the other novice hurdle contests.

Altior will be seeking his fifth score on the bounce as he has put together a great body of work in partnership with Nico De Boinville so far this season. His last victory was a particularly eye-catching contest when he captured a Class 2 Novice Hurdle by a whopping 13 length margin against a field of 10.
Buveur D’Air has taken two races in a row and performed well in both of them despite them just being Class 3 and Class 4 efforts. You will note though that he ran well in a bumper at Aintree last year when coming in 4th out of a field of 19 contenders. He has a lot to prove in this one but the bookmakers still come in with a rather competitive price tag of about an 8/1 or a 7/1 margin at the time of this writing.
Yorkhill is the other main contender and it looks like the bookmakers are having a hard time pricing him correctly. He captured the Grade 1 Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown to make a real significant showing of things and will be looking for his sixth score on the bounce.
The bookmakers have him priced at anywhere from 6/1 all the way up to a 16/1 margin as he also boasts entries for th Triumph Hurdle but more than likely the Neptune Novices where he can be backed as short as a 7/1 margin right now. He is certainly talented but Mullins will probably want to keep him away from Min if the favourite is really in form.
