We've got several group level contests set to unfold on the first day of the Glorious Goodwood meeting this Tuesday. While many thoroughbred racing enthusiasts are all anxiously looking forward to the 2012 Sussex Stakes on Wednesday where Frankel is expected to go out for a gallop and win another Group 1, there is still plenty of excitement in the cards for Tuesday as a number of fascinating contests will be coming out of the gate.

Godolphin in particular are out in full force on Tuesday and it could be a very big day for Saeed Bin Suroor and Mahmood Al-Zarooni. Look for top weight Retrieve in the opener as he looks to get things on track and score in a class 2 handicap. They also saddle Start Right, who will be attempting to turn around some relatively indifferent form.
Luca Cumani has Danadana, with Kieran Fallon booked for the mount. He's got two wins on the bounce and the Darley-bred will look to complete the trio of scores. Landaman has a nice weighting on the bottom end of the handicap, as does Las Verglas Star – who has gone close twice and could make the breakthrough.
The Group 3 Gordon Stakes features Frankel's younger brother Noble Mission – a three-year-old son of Galileo taking on six other contenders that include the well-respected Michaelangelo alongside Farhaan and the exciting Godolphin runner Encke.
Michaelangelo hasn't been seen since he scored in the Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O cup and he looks set to kick on nicely for the John Gosden yard in what looks to be a very open race. Farhaan is one of the few who has had outings above this level but all eyes will likely be on the Juddmonte entry as this race looks distinctly winnable.
The third race of the day is the Group 2 Lennox Stakes. Richard Hughes is expected to pilot Libranno, who looks for three scores on the bounce. There are a number in this one who might have a chance as they are all either in good form or have been knocking on the door. Sir Henry Cecil has Chachamaidee ready to roll in this contest and it's worth noting that she's got a Group 2 place and a Group 3 win under her belt already this year.
Mac Love is set for a second start of the year and Roger Charlton's charge will be looking to improve off that last effort and will certainly go off at an impressive price if he does manage it.
