Bet365 Bonus Preview for King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes
- By A.J. Ryder on July 16, 2012 17:24 GMT
There are more than a few high-quality Group level races set to unfold across Europe this weekend and one of the best looks to be the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Easily one of the best 1m4f races on the planet, a competitive field of 37 has been whittled down to a slim 12 runners and there are several contenders in the reckoning for the outright favourites position. Punters can expect more than a few swings in the wagering as we get closer to the off.

An interesting subplot to this one is that we have a pair of Galileo colts facing off against a pair of Montjeu colts. One of those Montjeu's is the talented St Nicholas Abbey and he's trading as the betting choice right following a big breakthrough in the Coronation Cup at Epsom on his third start off the lay-off.
He had two unsuccessful attempts to open his season and he was bested by less than a length and a quarter combined over the two efforts. Look for him to kick on here and attempt to justify the confidence that the punters are showing. St Nicholas Abbey can be backed around 2/1 with most major bookmakers.
Nathaniel drew all the plaudits when he romped home to win this race last year as a three-year-old against four other talented older colts. Only four finished that race after a horrible accident involving Godolphin's Rewilding.
Nathaniel can be backed at a competitive 5/2 as he looks to bag his second Group 2 encounter in less than two weeks time.
Multiple Group 2 winner Sea Moon is also in the frame for Sir Michael Stoute's yard and he trades at a competitive 3/1 for the outright victory. He scored in his second start off the freshening when he captured the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes. Dunaden finished second to Sea Moon on the day and he's back for more with a 5/1 price being floated at the moment. He's had three efforts since May but has been unable to make the breakthrough.
Danedream is a lengthy 10/1 for this race but will be a very interesting outside bet here. You haven't been able to get odds like that on Danedream for quite sometime and you might just reckon he's due after a bit of up-and-down stuff so far this season.
Brown Panther, Reliable Man, Shareta and Deep Brilliante all trade at 16/1 and, of that group, you would reckon that Brown Panther represents the best value. He's going to be taking some money on the day and Michael Owen has a knack for hitting some of these longer distance races at relatively solid payouts. He could certainly be a factor here with a clean trip and much will depend on how assertively St Nicholas Abbey runs in the earlier part of the race. He has a tendency to run in a variety of different styles and will be able to get some real results here if he can get a relatively slow early pace and not be too far off the early reckoning.
Brown Panther will want things a little bit on the firmer side but could kick on nicely after a listed score at Pontefract.
